Official IAAF Decathlon Points Calculator
The Decathlon is the ultimate test of all-around athleticism, consisting of ten track and field events held over two days. To determine the winner, performance marks (time, distance, height) are converted into points using standard formulas. Our Decathlon Calculator allows you to input your marks and instantly see your total score.
The 10 Events
- Day 1: 100m, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 400m
- Day 2: 110m Hurdles, Discus, Pole Vault, Javelin, 1500m
Scoring System
The current scoring tables were adopted in 2001. The system is progressive, meaning performance improvements produce higher point gains at the top end of the scale. This rewards specialists who are truly elite in specific events while demanding competency across the board.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Decathlon score calculated?
Scores are calculated using the 2001 IAAF scoring tables. Each event has a unique formula A(B-P)^C or A(P-B)^C, where P is your performance and A, B, C are fixed coefficients.
What is a good Decathlon score?
A score over 8,000 points is considered world-class. 7,000 points is national level, and 5,000-6,000 points is a strong club/collegiate level score.
Can I use this for the Heptathlon?
No, the Women's Heptathlon uses different coefficients and events. This calculator is specifically for the Men's Decathlon events.
